Membership in this cooperative gallery allows member artists to show original artwork of any kind in the one-room "Members' Gallery", to have scheduled one-person shows in the main gallery space and to participate in scheduled group shows as well as scheduled activities that the gallery hosts that invite participation from the community. Members are encouraged to attend the monthly meeting on the morning of the second Saturday of each month.
Membership at this cooperative gallery requires paying dues of $55 a month. If you say you are not gallery-sitting (not performing the duties of sitting/running the gallery space) then the member must pay $650 up-front at the beginning of the fiscal year. Members who do sit can offset their dues completely by sitting once a month. We evaluate halfway through the year to see if members are fulfilling their sitting responsibilities and expect dues unaccounted for by sitting to be paid up by the beginning of June.
Applicants should contact Ann Currie at acdc@shentel.net to inquire about application requirements.
The applicant's work will be reviewed by the Middle St. Gallery members at a monthly meeting (the second Saturday of the month).
Members in attendance discuss the merits of the work based on quality, presentation, and the urgency of your personal vision. We also consider how your work complements the work of the current members and if The Middle Street Gallery is the right venue for its display.
